The City of Lockport will be picking up yard waste the third full week in the months of April through September 2017. Yard waste weeks will be the weeks of April 17th, May 15th, June 19th, July 17th, August 21st and September 18th . Acceptable items include, pruning’s, brush/hedge trimmings, thatch from raking, old flower/vegetable plants, leaves and mulch. Unacceptable items include grass, pet waste, plastic, tree stumps, railroad ties, landscape timber, and construction stones.
Residents must place yard debris in containers with a total weight less than 40lbs and/or utilize paper kraft bags. No plastic bags will be accepted. Materials must be placed at the streetline or curb of a public street by 7:00am on normal trash collection day to ensure pickup on your scheduled trash collection day.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: The City of Lockport reserves the right to reject any loads containing unacceptable materials:
- Grass (residents are encouraged to mulch, home compost or find alternative disposal methods).

- Railroad Ties
- Landscape timber
- Construction stones
Bulk Waste (large items)
Each month, residents will be permitted to place one bulk item to the curb for collection. Bulk week will start on the Monday of the first full week of each month. Bulk solid waste is defined as solid waste that is too large or too heavy to place inside your city-issued refuse cart, including discarded appliances, small household furniture, bedding and mattresses, and carpet (maximum 3 rolls, each no larger than 4 ft long and 18 inches wide.
We know there is a possibility that you may need additional capacity several times a year. The City will be selling additional capacity stickers at the City Clerk’s office, located at 1 Locks Plaza. You must be a Curbside Recycling/Refuse program subscriber with an account in good standing to purchase a City sticker/tag. Extra Capacity Tags are $2 for bagged items weighing less than 30-pounds.
Extra Bulk Capacity Tags for $10 and available for residents (only) who wish to dispose of additional bulk items during bulk week (maximum 5 total items).
City Businesses and Multiresidential properties (four and five family parcels) are permitted to participate in the City’s collection program. Four and Five family parcels must have a minimum of four (4) 96-gallon carts. Businesses may select from a variety of options to customize capacity and collection that best suits their needs. 96-gallon Trash and Refuse Carts, ranging from one to four total carts may be arranged for collection from once per week to daily (weekdays only).
