Request for Proposals Issued for Genesee Street Properties

The City of Lockport has announced it is soliciting proposals to purchase two recently acquired properties on Genesee Street, at 271 Genesee and 281 Genesee.

“This is the next step in removing the blight of these properties from the neighborhood and our community,” said Mayor David Wohleben. “We are excited to see what responses we receive and will make our recommendation to the council based on what is best for the community.”

The properties were acquired by the city by demonstrating that the homes were legally abandoned under the New York State Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law.

“Our goal is to remove blight and promote homeownership,” said Brian Smith, director of Planning and Development. “This is one of several initiatives underway to improve the community and continue to make progress throughout the city.”

The full Request for Proposals are available on the city’s website on the City Clerk page, or can be obtained by contacting the Community Development Department at 716.439.6686 or bsmith@lockportny.gov.

The deadline to submit is 4 p.m. Oct. 24, 2018.
